This is a plug for the EXPERIENCE of meditation! Because --- you gotta do it to feel it. You can read about it, talk about it, wonder about it. And then you gotta try it.

I just read an email from our friend Kyle Boyd of the Heart Coherence Collaborative. (Jim and I did sound healing and other workshops for the HCC retreat with Kyle and Leah last fall, a phenomenal experience.)

Kyle wrote: ā€œPeople will spend hours watching videos about meditation but won't sit in silence for five minutes.ā€

Ā 

Truth.

Ā 

Many people consume interesting insightful content all day long. YouTubes, podcasts, Gaia and TikToks. The information well is endless.

Ā 

It’s helpful wisdom from amazing spiritual teachers, but do we do anything with it? Or do we just stuff ourselves with content?

Ā 

It’s like the old adage of someone telling you how great exercise is, and how fab you will feel afterward. You agree. You tell a friend. But you don’t do anything. You have exercise videos but never actually get on the floor and exercise.

Ā 

When you were young, you could watch movies, read books, and have your friends tell you about how great a kiss was, but until you experienced it yourself, you didn’t really know.

Ā 

Experience is everything.

Ā 

You can watch/read/consume info on meditation, but until you sit in circle with others, you simply don’t know. If you don’t actually give it a whirl, what’s the point?

Ā 

Maybe the word ā€œmeditationā€ is off-putting. Long ago, I taught to not use that label. Find a cozy spot, close your eyes and sit for three minutes. You can sit in silence and stillness and just breathe, or choose a word to focus on, a word that makes you feel good. Butterfly. Peace. Chocolate Cake. Anything that makes you feel an internal smile.

Breathing and being with your beautiful self is the whole point. Don’t make it any more complicated than that.

Ā 

Allow yourself the possibility that it might feel really great and have incredible benefits you cannot even imagine right now. If this former IRS agent can now be someone who has a meditation and sound healing center, believe me, ANYTHING is possible.

AccessSOUL is here to make it easy for you to give it a whirl. Meditation gatherings are free and every week. Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays.

Join us. You just show up, sit on a comfy chair, have a water or tea. We sit in circle together. Usually I guide the breathing and visualization to get us going. It’s that simple.

No strict rules or postures. All faith traditions and belief systems are welcome. We are accessing inner peace, with no labels beyond that.

There are countless ways to meditate. You will find what works for you, be it Access SOUL or elsewhere, when you actually give it a try. Experience is everything.
