The real need for calm

April 1, 2010, sixteen wild years ago, I launched the Happiness Club of Loves Park, IL.

I was coaching and doing speaking gigs, presentations and workshops teaching joy and science of happiness. As a member of AATH (Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor), American Happiness Association and other organizations, I met Lionel Ketchian, a professor in Connecticut, who had created Happiness Clubs. He asked me to start a club in Illinois. So I did.

I rented the room at the library and held free monthly community meetings sharing tips and techniques to live a happier life. I remember the date it started because when I sent out press releases (that’s what one did back then), some people thought a thing called Happiness Club on April 1 was an April Fool’s joke.

Twas not. Happiness Club ran for 5 years.

The premise was/is simple. Happy people make better decisions. You feel better, live longer, have better relationships, make more money, etc. All true.

I still consider myself a happy person. And life evolves. The world today asks more of us. People’s nervous systems are fried, frazzled and overloaded. “Happy” is fine, but most people now crave CALM.

As I am revamping our Access SOUL website, the word CALM keeps coming up. The mission statement that has revealed is that we are guiding you to find calm amidst the noise. And there is a lot of noise these days.

When we can calm down, we can rise up. Feeling calm in the body is how it begins.

I’m totally into spiritual growth and awakening our awareness, AND where does that actually start? In the body.

The website work has shown me that what Jim and I are doing – sound healing and meditation and energy healing – is all about helping people relax and regain some calm. From that state, that place, you can indeed feel inner peace and access the soul guidance within.

That guidance, the still small voice, is hard to hear amidst all the noise, but it’s there. And when we begin to hear it again (hooray!), you align with your internal operating system, your soul blueprint.

The results: less dilemma, more trust. Choices become clearer. Any actions to take become obvious. You get out of overwhelm. Life is revealed step by step by step. Every piece and part is easier to navigate.

More ease, more CALM, and that automatically leads to more JOY. Full circle, back to my roots teaching joy.

Calm is the gateway to better health, better relationships, etc. Peace of mind. Of body. Of spirit.

The body and mind cannot heal if not relaxed. So that is where we start. Seems obvious now, right?!

In order to "access soul," we need to access calm. (And even people who do not care about "soul," still want to be calm! Amen!)

Before I sign off, THANK YOU for all the response to last week’s joy letter! Keep ‘em coming!

What brings me joy this week:

·       Crazy cool client sessions

·       Wild weather (for real, I like summer and winter in the same week)

·       Expanding my tech skills

·       Allowing myself grace

·       Pizza from my past

Much love.

xx Kelly
